ANAND is currently an undergraduate student at Tufts University. He plans to pursue a major in Cognitive and Brain Sciences, an interdisciplinary major that explores the intersection between psychology, biology, neuroscience, philosophy, and computer science, with a double minor in Philosophy and Spanish.

Anand is a graduate of Hunter College High School (HCHS), where he maintained and graduated with a 4.0 GPA. At HCHS, he was the president of the Hunter Organization for Latine Americans, a club devoted to creating a collaborative community and safe space for the underrepresented Latine students of HCHS to celebrate and share their culture. In addition, at HCHS, Anand was the founder and president of both the Fitness and Wellness Club, which provided a space for students to explore the relationship between mental and physical health, and the Table Tennis for Charity club, which aimed to raise money for charities through community table tennis matches. Anand was also a part of the HCHS Big Sib mentorship program, where he formed close bonds with seventh and eighth grade students to ameliorate their transition into a high school environment. In his senior year, he was a teaching intern for a seventh-grade Spanish class, where he worked closely with the teacher to formulate lesson plans, grade homework, tutor the students one-on-one, and teach lessons. Anand played for the Hunter Boys Varsity Soccer team and made it to the PSAL City Championship Finals game as a senior. In addition, he has written for HCHS’s official newspaper, What’s What, as a staff writer.

Anand prepared for his SAT through Kweller Prep’s SAT program. He scored a 1540 on his SAT, with a 800 Math and 740 Reading breakdown. At HCHS, he took many rigorous courses, including AP Spanish, AP Biology, AP Calculus AB, Honors Medical Physiology, Honors Literary Journalism, and Introduction to Psychology-10000 at Hunter College through a Dual Enrollment program. Anand took the AP Spanish exam, on which he received a 5.

Outside of HCHS, Anand has tutored students privately for the past two years, ranging in grade from kindergarten to high school. Anand has tutored students in the math, English, Spanish, social studies, science, and standardized test prep, including the New York State assessment exams, and the Hunter College High School entrance exam. Anand worked with the New York City Youth Education Project to provide free tutoring services to students with economically disadvantaged backgrounds during the pandemic. Additionally, he was a youth mentor for an IndyKids Journalism Camp, where he assisted elementary and middle school students in writing articles and conducting interviews. Anand studied neurology as a summer intern at Lenox Hill Hospital’s Neurosurgery Program, where he was able to shadow neurosurgeons as they worked on clinical trials, and complete a research project under the mentorship of Dr. Randy D’Amico. He has also held positions at the Global Health Youth Organization which include Associate Speaker Outreach and Brand Ambassador. In his free time, Anand enjoys playing the piano and the guitar, working out, thrifting, and eating.
