Kweller Prep Tutor Amrin

AMRIN attends the Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College on the pre-medical track, majoring in Biology and double minoring in Chemistry and Spanish with a 3.7 GPA. At Macaulay Hunter, she took Biology, Organic Chemistry, and Psychology. Before Macaulay Honors, Amrin attended Townsend Harris High School, which is the #1 high school in New York. She earned a 1520 on the SAT and a 35 on the ACT, with a perfect score on the math section for both exams. She also earned a perfect 800 on the SAT Math 2 subject test (she clearly loves math!). She also took a variety of AP courses in high school, such as AP World History, AP US History, AP English Literature and Composition, and AP Calculus BC. Amrin was also the Features Editor on Townsend’s school newspaper, The Classic, where she led a team of talented writers and wrote her own pieces for the paper. She currently writes for Hunter College’s and the Macaulay Honors’ school newspaper as well. She was also part of Townsend Harris’ Science Research Program and submitted her work to various competitions including the New York City Science and Engineering Fair, where she placed as a semifinalist in the Microbiology competition. Outside of school, Amrin is a research assistant with Weill Cornell, where she assists in vascular research on kidney dialysis patients. She particularly focuses on the different sounds of blood flow that can affect the diagnosis and treatment of kidney dialysis patients. She has also worked as a research mentee at St. John’s University for the chairman of their Biology department, where she studied DNA evolution in plants. She also volunteered with the Lincoln Hospital emergency medicine department and Northwell Health LIJ pediatric department as well. Amrin has plenty of experience in tutoring, both as a private tutor and in small group settings. Amrin’s favorite subjects are math and biology, but she also enjoys art and all kinds of photography in her free time.
