Elizabeth is an undergraduate student at the University of California, Irvine, where she studies civil engineering on an ABET-certified graduation track. At her university, Elizabeth is a member of SWE Outreach, a program that coordinates mentorship between female high school students interested in engineering and current engineering undergraduates at UCI, as well as serving as a project member of a design project creating a fully-functional sand rover to help clean up and sort minuscule litter from California beaches. She also plays club rugby at UCI, scoring at national championships and winning 2nd in the nation. Elizabeth attended Hunter College High School from 7th to 12th grade.
Kweller Prep is proud to share that Elizabeth prepared for the Hunter entrance exam and the SAT exam as a Kweller student. At Hunter College High School, Elizabeth took classes such as AP French, for which she scored a ⅘, as well as AP Biology, AB Calculus, Honors Physics, and Honors Astrophysics. She received qualifying scores that allowed her to take more advanced courses in her college studies. Elizabeth attended Kweller Prep to prepare for her standardized exams and scored a 35 out of 36 on her ACT. Elizabeth was also involved in the school community, serving as co-president of The Coloring Book, a zine that focused on highlighting student talent and diversity, senior leader of the cross-country, indoor track, and outdoor track teams, and senior editor for The Observer, one of Hunter’s two premier newspapers. Additionally, she served as a peer tutor for French in 10th and 11th grades, tutoring several students every week and helping them achieve visible progress in their test scores.
Outside of school, Elizabeth worked as an intern for the Van Cortlandt Park Alliance during her junior year summer, conducting fieldwork and research within the park as well as coordinating with a larger park team to conserve the park’s natural plant life and remove invasive species. Her interest in the environment also extended to volunteering, as she acted as a regular volunteer for Prospect Park Alliance, the Lower East Side Ecology Center, and Randall’s Park Alliance to clean trash, conduct trail renovation, and remove invasive species.
Elizabeth is familiar with the SAT, ACT, and Hunter exams and has tutoring experience in both one-on-one and group classes. Elizabeth loves to read, paint, and bake in her free time; she is also passionate about writing and looks forward to mentoring students at Kweller Prep!
