Kweller Prep Tutor Esther

Esther is a third-year medical student at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, New York. She is currently completing her core clinical rotations at Nassau University Medical Center, where she is caring for patients across the hospital’s core specialties, and will be applying for residency in the coming year.

Esther began her path toward medicine in NYIT’s highly selective seven-year B.S./D.O. program, completing her undergraduate education in just three years before matriculating into NYITCOM. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences with a 3.8 GPA, was named to the Presidential Honors List every single semester of her undergraduate career, and earned a 510 on the MCAT, continuing directly into the medical school portion of the B.S./D.O. program.

A graduate of Jericho High School, Esther challenged herself with a rigorous academic schedule that included eleven Advanced Placement courses, finishing with a 3.8 unweighted and 4.1 weighted GPA and a 32 on the ACT. Having navigated a demanding high school curriculum, an accelerated premedical program, the MCAT, and medical school itself, she brings a rare perspective to students with ambitious academic and professional goals.

Esther’s interest in medicine extends well beyond the classroom. She has spent summers working as an operating room assistant and as a cardiology scribe, gaining early exposure to patient care alongside physicians and other healthcare professionals, experience she now builds on daily through her clinical rotations at Nassau University Medical Center. She has also completed more than two years of medical research spanning neuroscience and orthopedics, developing an appreciation for scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and evidence-based medicine that shapes the way she teaches science. Throughout college and medical school, she has stayed deeply involved in leadership, serving as President of the Maimonides Society and Secretary of the Dermatology Club at NYITCOM, and as President of Chabad at NYIT for two years, where she led student programming and community initiatives.

At Kweller Prep, Esther works with students on college applications and guides them through applying to pre-med tracks and accelerated medical programs, including the seven-year B.S./D.O. route she took herself. She also speaks with students and families about the premedical path and what a career in medicine actually looks like, and tutors biology, where she especially enjoys taking concepts that first seem overwhelming and breaking them into manageable pieces. Having gone from a high school student interested in medicine to a medical student caring for patients in the hospital, Esther knows that academic success takes more than memorization. She pushes students to build strong study habits, understand the reasoning behind the material, and develop the confidence to work through hard problems on their own. Whether a student is strengthening their performance in biology, managing a heavy AP schedule, putting together a college application, exploring accelerated medical programs, or simply trying to understand the road to becoming a physician, she makes the process structured, understandable, and achievable.

Outside of medicine and tutoring, Esther enjoys traveling, reading, and baking sourdough, and loves exploring new places and cultures whenever her schedule allows.
