IAN is an undergraduate student at Georgetown University, where he is majoring in economics. Ian graduated from NEST+m (New Explorations into Science, Technology and Math) for middle school and high school after being one of just 20 students admitted out of thousands of students to take the entrance exam. Ian was recognized as the top student in his middle school class, choosing to stay at NEST through high school because of his strong connection with the community.
In high school, Ian scored a 5/5 on every AP exam he took, including Physics 1 (which only 6% of students scored a 5/5 on), World History, US History, English Language and Composition, Calculus AB, Statistics and Calculus BC. This earned him recognition as an AP Scholar with Distinction. Ian scored 1570 on the SAT (800 Math, 770 Verbal) on his first attempt and was selected by Schoolhouse.World to run a free SAT tutoring program as a result. Ian graduated with a 100.44 weighted GPA.
Ian studied Chinese starting in his sophomore year in high school and has continued to study it in college. Ian also played piano for the school jazz ensemble, which required auditions to be accepted. Ian was the co-captain of his high school’s fencing and debate teams, specializing in public forum debate and epee fencing. Despite both teams losing their faculty coaches after a year of lockdown, Ian and his fellow upperclassmen continued to teach younger members as well as they could. They also made sure that the teams could continue going to competitions, even without proper adult coaching. He has further pursued both of these at Georgetown, continuing to learn not only for his own sake, but to teach others, as well.
In his free time, Ian enjoys playing basketball, tennis, and piano and is a big fan of the Mets and the Knicks.
