Kweller Prep Tutor Isabel

ISABEL is a current undergraduate student at the University of Chicago, studying Economics and Applied Mathematics.

Isabel attended Bronx High School of Science from 9th through 12th grade. We are thrilled to add that she was a former student at Kweller Prep, where she prepared for the SHSAT and ultimately got into Bronx Science, her first-choice high school.

At Bronx Science, Isabel was editor-in-chief of the newspaper The Science Survey in her senior year of high school, and she was copy chief in her junior year of high school. Isabel also worked for the Bronx Science Alumni Magazine, where she was one of nine of 109 writers selected. In addition to her interest in journalism, Isabel was also a member of the Public Forum Debate for four years, where she was ranked one of the top teams in the country as well as captain of Bronx Science’s fencing team. Outside of school, Isabel has volunteered at DOROT, an organization aimed at fostering intergenerational bonds and continues to volunteer there today. Over the summer, she also participated in a pre-college course called Economics for Leaders, where she continued to foster her passion for economics.

With regards to research, Isabel has conducted economics research on the effects of a rising elderly population on household income in the United States. Her research got her to the finals of the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium for mathematical and computational science research.

In high school, Isabel took classes such as AP Art History, AP World History, AP U.S. History, AP English Language and Composition, AP Calculus AB, AP Statistics, AP Microeconomics, AP Macroeconomics, AP Biology, AP Spanish Language, and AP English Literature, scoring 4s and 5s on all of them. She also took Multivariable Calculus and Partial Differential Equations, earning credit for the University of Albany.

Isabel attended Kweller Prep to prepare for the SHSAT and received a 591. On her Digital SAT, she had a score of 1530, scoring 800 out of 800 on Math and 730 out of 800 on English.

Isabel is extremely familiar with the intricacies of the SHSAT, PSAT, SAT, and Digital SAT. In her free time, Isabel enjoys hanging out with her friends and going to the movies.
