JANN

JANN (short for Jannatul) attended the Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College while on the pre-medical track. She double majored in Economics and Psychology, minoring in Interdisciplinary Studies of NYC with a 4.0 GPA. At Macaulay Hunter, Jann took courses such as Biochemistry, Environmental Economics, and Neuroscience. She was a Horace W. Goldsmith Scholar and a John P. McNulty Scholar, having received $7500 from Macaulay and $12,000 from Hunter for internship and research opportunities. Jann was an undergraduate researcher at the Jarvis Lab at Rockefeller University for three years and conducted research on the neurophysiology of mouse vocalizations there. Furthermore, Jann interned in the Global Business Development department at the American Museum of Natural History where she assisted the marketing and sales teams with various projects. Jann campaigned for Evie Hantzopoulos, a former candidate for City Council in District 22, and Jann served as the Chair of Evie’s Youth Committee. Jann has also volunteered in the Maternity Postpartum Unit at New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center and the Teen and Young Adult Program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Jann graduated from Stuyvesant High School while also maintaining a 4.0 GPA. At Stuyvesant, she participated in the National Honors Society and the Science Olympiad. She scored a 34/36 on the ACT and a 1540/1600 on the SAT. At Stuyvesant, she took AP Biology, Chemistry, World History, US History, US Government, Comparative Government, English Language and Composition, and Spanish Language. She received 4/5 and 5/5 on all of her AP exams. Jann participated in the After School Program, Saltz Internship, and Science Research Mentoring Program at the American Museum of Natural History and conducted research with Columbia University Ph.D. candidates where she became a Pinkerton Scholar.
Jann has 6 years of previous experience with private tutoring, specializing in SHSAT, Regents, AP Exam, and Common Core prep. She has done tutoring sessions with students both one on one and in classroom settings. Jann is from Astoria, Queens. In her free time, Jann likes to practice film photography, read books, and discover new places in New York City. She is currently studying for the MCAT and will be applying to medical school next year.
