Melissa

Melissa attends Boston University in Massachusetts on scholarship. At college, Melissa is on a pre-medical track, majoring in Neuroscience. She is the treasurer of her school’s Taiwanese American student association. Her current college coursework includes Biochemistry, Physics, Drugs and Behavior, and Translational Research in Alzheimer’s Disease. Melissa graduated from Townsend Harris High School in 2018 with a where she was the Girls Varsity Fencing Champion, Lead Witness in Mock Trial, Moot Court, Competitor of the Regional Champion of the Science Olympiad Team in Forensics, Wood Building, and Experimental design, and was the Director of Film and Media of its award-winning and student-funded literary and arts magazine, The Phoenix. Her high school AP course load included taking AP Macroeconomics, AP Psychology, AP US History, AP Computer Science Principles, AP World History, and AP English Language. She also completed college classes directly at Queens College which counted for 12 credits at Boston University. Melissa has successfully taught Kweller Prep‘s SAT program for two summers and received glowing reviews as well as Kweller’s HUNTER program. Throughout the summer of 2020, Melissa taught in-person classes at Kweller Queens. She served as a PSAT instructor and SAT class tutor. Melissa is a talented teacher, able to put all her students’ minds at ease. She thoroughly explains each and every question to her students, so they understand. Even in a class setting, Melissa makes personalized time for each student. In Boston, she works as a research assistant at the All of Us Research Program, the most diverse NIH funded research program, and as a Fundraising Assistant at the Donor Relations Office to oversee impact reports to donors of her university. When not at Kweller Prep, Melissa can be seen taking walks and writing songs.
