Kweller Prep Tutor Mia

Mia attends New York University. As an undergraduate, Mia is a member of NYU’s Law Society, Model United Nations, and Black Student Union. She aspires to become an attorney.

Mia graduated from the Marymount School of New York, an independent Catholic High School for Girls. While at Marymount, Mia’s coursework included AP Statistics, French 4, and Engineering. Mia’s 11th-grade coursework included AP Computer Science Principles, Honors Pre-Calculus, and AP U.S History. Mia received acceptance into Marymount High School in eighth grade through the Butler Scholarship that allowed her $200,000 in scholarship money. Mia took several tough entrance exams throughout the 8th grade, including the TACHS, the SHSAT, the ISEE, the SSAT, the COOP, the HSPT, and the Scholarship Exams. After taking the PSAT-NMSQT in her junior year, she is recognized by College Board in the National Merit Scholarship Recognition Program for her high score.

Mia was an active member of her high school community. Mia was the captain of her school’s varsity fencing team, a mentor to first-year students in her school’s peer assistance club, and a member of Model United Nations. She interned with New York politicians and political organizations to make positive changes in her community. While a high school student, Mia took college-level classes at New York University and received an A in Calculus I, a fully transferable course credit. Despite the challenges of COVID-19 and how it affected standardized testing, she managed to score a 4 in both AP US History and AP Computer Science when testing online after abrupt academic interruptions.

Since the seventh grade, Mia has attended Kweller Prep and worked with Kweller tutors throughout high school and during her college application process. Mia participated in Kweller’s SAT courses, which helped her score highly on the PSAT and the SAT. Mia then tutored fellow Kweller students for the TACHS, HSPT, and hosted webinars on navigating Catholic School Admissions and Scholarships. She also led a zoom webinar on what to expect from top college interviews.

In her free time, she blogs on current events and spends time with her family. Her blog is @stories.by.gen.z on Instagram. It encourages young adults to express themselves without judgment.
