Namera is currently an undergraduate student attending New York University. She is majoring in psychology and is on a pre-med track. Some of the coursework that she will be taking this upcoming semester include Advanced Calculus, Introduction to Perception, Writing as Exploration, and Global Works and Society.
Namera attended Stuyvesant High School and graduated as an AP Scholar with an Advanced Regents diploma. Namera was previously a student at Kweller Prep, preparing for the SAT during the Fall semester. She achieved a 1500 SAT score, putting her in the 99th percentile of all students. Additionally, she was a student in Kweller Prep’s AP Chemistry course where she later achieved a 4 on the exam. At Stuyvesant, Namera took numerous advanced courses such as AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP United States Government, AP US Government, AP Literature and Creative Writing, AP Calculus, and AP Psychology.
During high school, Namera was very active within her community. She was the president of Stuyvesant Red Cross, Stuyvesant’s largest club. Namera created and organized volunteering events for 800+ students led the club’s social media page, as well as managed her fellow board members by creating meetings and assigning tasks. Namera won the citywide Outstanding Red Cross Club Award twice throughout her time as a board member. Namera had previously competed in parliamentary debate, winning a national 1st place award as top speaker. Namera was an assistant director for Stuyvesant Bollywood, where she would help choreograph dances for upcoming school events. Additionally, she was vice president of the Muslim Students Association. Namera competed in numerous competitions for the Muslim Interscholastic Tournament. Namera won first place in the MIST New York Improv Competition and the MIST New York Basketball Competition, as well as third place in the MIST National Championship for Science Fair.
Outside of school, Namera served as the Communications Director for Project Environment, a youth-led nonprofit. She managed meetings and discussions between different departments as well as aided in hosting meetings for numerous students throughout New York City. Namera was also a volunteer at the Elmhurst Community Fridge, where she would aid in the dispersal of food as well as sanitize and check up on the pantry. She also volunteered at Square Health Care, where she created appointments for patients, assigned referrals, and provided resources. Namera was an Intern for Human Nature Projects Ontario, where she dedicated over 50 hours to researching the environmental issues faced by an indigenous group within Canada, as well as contacting numerous Canadian legislators to raise awareness about these issues.
In her free time, Namera takes care of her guinea pig, Niko, and is a die-hard Minecraft player. She also loves to watch sports games such as basketball and soccer.
