Olga is a doctor. She is a first-year resident physician at Cohen Children’s Medical Center, a nationally-ranked pediatric hospital. She balances her demanding work schedule with a passion for tutoring, which she finds deeply meaningful. Formerly a fourth-year medical student at SUNY Downstate Medical School, Olga has successfully completed Step 1 and Step 2 of the USMLE exams, demonstrating her mastery of the sciences and foundational skills for safe medical practice. Recently inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society, she has completed various rotations in clinical medicine, rigorously studied for medical exams, and contributed to curriculum development at her school.
Olga is actively involved in faculty-student committees, including the admissions committee at her medical school. As she anticipates her match results in March, she looks forward to the next chapter of her medical training.
Before her medical career, Olga graduated summa cum laude from the Macaulay Honors College at Brooklyn College, holding a double major in Sociology and Chemistry and a minor in Biochemistry. Her academic journey included an extensive curriculum that encompassed biology, chemistry, physics, calculus, and sociology. In high school at Staten Island Technical Specialized High School, she maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA and scored 2300/2400 on the SAT, achieving the 99th percentile in several subject tests. Olga’s commitment to academic excellence was evident as she earned a five on every Advanced Placement exam she took.
Transitioning to the coordinated BAMD program at Brooklyn College, Olga fully utilized the opportunities offered by the Macaulay Honors Program, which provided her with a full four-year scholarship. Alongside her studies, she engaged in clinical research at the Department of Cell Biology at SUNY Downstate and achieved an impressive 521 score on the MCAT.
With over ten years of tutoring experience, Olga has reached the platinum level and is deeply passionate about education. As the child of immigrants, she navigated the American school system independently and understands the challenges students face. Her personal academic journey informs her tutoring approach, allowing her to tailor lessons to individual learning styles. She serves not just as a tutor but as a mentor to her students. Olga and fellow tutor Marianna, a close friend, share a unique bond, having been in the same BA/MD program and graduating from medical school together.
At Kweller Prep, Olga is honored to serve as an SHSAT, SAT, and Hunter Prep instructor, frequently hosting webinars and assisting students with college and graduate applications. She has provided in-person tutoring at Kweller Prep locations in Queens and Manhattan and online via Zoom. Her organized notes and excellent command of digital tools enhance her engaging lessons, and she adeptly adapted to online learning during the pandemic, mentoring other staff members in effective teaching methods.
Olga is fluent in Russian and proficient in Spanish, and she brings a diverse skill set to her teaching endeavors. Outside her academic and professional pursuits, she enjoys playing the piano, gardening, and cherishing quality time with friends and family.
