Ryan is currently pursuing a Master’s in Teaching Biology: 7-12 at Teachers College, Columbia University. His journey began in Bronx Science, one of New York City’s specialized high schools. Valuing the world-class education provided, Ryan took multiple AP courses, including AP Biology, AP United States History, AP Macroeconomics, and AP Psychology and a college-level Multivariable Calculus course, earning straight A’s across the board. Ryan also created the Bronx Science Chinese Culture Club, giving lessons and leading activities for everyone to experience the beauty of Chinese traditions. When the school moved online during COVID-19, Ryan made a website, bought a domain, and shared blog posts for the club members to enjoy. After graduating from Bronx Science with a 96.55 running GPA, Ryan entered Hunter College with the 1530 he received on his first SAT. Ryan worked multiple jobs to fund his college tuition. Ryan proceeded to graduate in 3 years with honors in Biology. Over the years, Ryan dedicated many months to working with and teaching kids as a volunteer in various Chinese school programs. Outside of school, Ryan enjoys taking on various projects, such as making videos for his secret YouTube channel with 3k subscribers. Ryan likes listening to electronic music, reading Chinese web novels, and playing mobile games as a form of relaxation. Ryan especially loves playing chess, an activity he picked up during his time at the Hunter Chess Club.
