SANJANA

Kweller Prep Tutor Sanjana

Sanjana is a graduate of Cornell University’s College of Arts and Sciences, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and French with honors. While a student, Sanjana was the president of The Cornell Diplomat — the only student-run international affairs magazine on campus — as well as a highly selective app development club whose apps served a majority of the campus community. Sanjana also spent a semester abroad in Paris, where she took economics and history courses taught completely in French at the prestigious Université Paris locations (including the famed Panthéon-Sorbonne, for economics) and became fluent in the language alongside receiving credits for her double majors. In fact, this experience inspired her so much that she was one of only two students in her year to write a fifty-page thesis in a foreign language, earning her full funding to present at two research symposiums to present her original work. Sanjana’s intersectional interests manifest themselves in her interests in law, healthcare equity, international economics, and foreign affairs.

Sanjana attended Hunter College High School from 7th through 12th grades. During her time there, Sanjana was the president of the speech team, a literary editor for the yearbook, and a mentee in the selective citywide Girls Write Now mentorship program, among other involvements. Throughout her high school career, Sanjana won several medals in the National French Competition as well as several Scholastic Art & Writing Awards — including a Gold Key in photography, which was even featured at The Met! Sanjana ultimately received a 1540/1600 on the SAT, 34/36 on the ACT, a 780/800 on the SAT II Biology E exam, and a 5/5 on the AP English Language Exam (without taking the course!), among other exceptional scores.

Sanjana has previously taught both private tutoring sessions as well as week-long programs. In one of her SHSAT programs, she raised students’ scores by 40 percentage points on average in comparing diagnostic tests to the final practice exam at the end of the program. Sanjana is a naturally gifted tutor who works to understand students’ shortcomings in the material and adapts her sessions accordingly. An adept and flexible instructor, she has tutored in every possible area, from the ACT to French comprehension and fluency. She has been tutoring since the summer following her high school graduation, and alongside instructing others, she enjoys running (she’s currently training for a half-marathon), rock climbing, reading science fiction novels, and listening to foreign affairs podcasts.
