Synthia is currently an undergraduate student at the University of Michigan, studying Political Science at the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. Synthia graduated St. Francis Prep with a 4.0 GPA. In high school, Synthia took AP Biology, AP Human Geography, which she scored a 5 on, AP Calculus AB, AP Literature, AP Government & Politics, and other honors classes. Synthia was also a part of her high school’s National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, and Business Honor Society. Throughout high school, she was involved in peer tutoring and extra help, assisting kids with coursework and homework.
Outside of school, Synthia has volunteered at Tzu Chi Foundation where she worked on connecting with students from Taiwan to teach English. Additionally, she volunteered at the Queens Public Library, where she organized mentorship workshops for students, helped the librarians sort books, and aided visitors in locating books. Synthia has also worked diverse jobs as a summer intern for a marketing company, where she supported company partnership and influencer outreach, and as a lifeguard for various pools, where she performed life saving duties to keep patrons safe.
Synthia has experience teaching in multitudes of settings, both in-person and online. She has taught group classes and students privately one-on-one. As a tutor, Synthia is committed to creating a learning space where she is able to meet her students where they are and build from there, prioritizing encouragement and confidence. She focuses on building critical thinking skills and a strong foundation. In her free time, Synthia loves to watch movies, spend time with friends, and bake.
