Kweller Prep Tutor Tasnim

Tasnim is an undergraduate student at Hunter College, majoring in Human Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She is a member of Macaulay Honors College, where she received a four-year full-tuition scholarship, and is simultaneously a graduate student at the CUNY School of Public Health, concentrating in Health Policy and Management through the school’s selective accelerated 4+1 program. She brings three years of research experience in stem cells and genetics to her work with students.

Tasnim is a graduate of the High School for Math, Science, and Engineering at City College, where she was placed into the selective Mount Sinai science track. Through that program, she began working in a molecular biology research laboratory at the Icahn School of Medicine while still in high school, continued that work into college, and went on to join the New York Stem Cell Foundation as a research assistant. Outside the lab, she served as a research fellow at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response, evaluating qualitative and quantitative methods for standardizing equity considerations into emergency exercises. She is also a recipient of the prestigious international Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship, which funded her study abroad in the Galápagos Islands researching evolution and ecology. She currently works with the nonprofit Concrete Safaris, delivering public health workshops to youth and families.

Tasnim scored a 1520 on the SAT, with a 770 in English and a 750 in Math, and completed dual-enrollment coursework at City College in Physics, Calculus, and Economics while still in high school. She has extensive experience in peer mentoring and one-on-one college application advising, and works with students on college applications, personal statements, and supplemental essay editing — guiding them through a process she navigated successfully herself.

Tasnim aspires to become a physician. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, drawing, and learning new art skills.
