Temi

Temi is a second-year medical student at the Sophie Davis/ CUNY School of Medicine. She received a full academic scholarship and graduated undergrad with honors with a degree in Biomedical Sciences. Temi is the Vice President and editor of The Biograph, her school’s current events publication. She is also an active member of Sisters of Sophie, a club dedicated to the empowerment of black women in medicine. Temi was born in Lagos, Nigeria and immigrated to the U.S when she was 2 years old. She attended Queens Preparatory Academy and graduated as valedictorian with a 4.0/4.0 GPA. Temi took AP Calculus AB/BC, AP English Language, and AP United States History and scored 5’s. In highschool, Temi was a SALTZ intern at the American Museum of Natural History and taught museum guests about certain exhibits and shared a breadth of scientific knowledge with newcomers. As part of the SALTZ internship program, Temi facilitated science conversations using artifacts, specimens, models, and scientific tools on mobile stations throughout the museum and at dioramas and displays in museum halls with museum visitors. Temi was captain of her high school varsity volleyball team and played as a setter on her travel club team for 3 years. Temi’s passion for English Literature rivals her love for the sciences and she hopes to get her MFA one day. Temi has a fierce work ethic and was accepted to top colleges across the country, including the Brown University PLME, UPENN, Yale, Barnard, Boston College, Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins, New York University, Vassar College, Williams, College, Sophie Davis, all SUNY’s, All Cunys, Macaulay, Northeaster, and Northwestern. In her free time, Temi enjoys reading, playing volleyball, spending time with friends and family, and re-watching The Office.
