AMRIN is a medical student at the SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, where she is pursuing her MD. She graduated magna cum laude from the Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College, earning a B.A in Human Biology with Honors, and a minor in Chemistry on the pre-medicine track. The highly selective Macaulay Honors program awarded her a full-merit scholarship for all four years. Throughout her college career, Amrin took courses such as Anatomy and Physiology, Neurobiology, Endocrinology, General Chemistry, Physics, and Molecular Biology. Amrin also earned a 90th percentile score on her MCAT, making her a very competitive medical school applicant. Amrin has also worked as a research assistant in both the Molecular & Cellular Biology and Neuroscience departments at SUNY Downstate. While working in the Molecular & Cellular Biology department, Amrin contributed to research on the role of the LRP1 protein on various digestive pathways. In the Neuroscience Department, Amrin studied the role of microglia (immune cells of the brain) in synaptic connectivity in ASD models. Additionally, Amrin was a fellow for the prestigious Yale University Program to Advance Training in Health & Sciences (PATHS), a mentorship that provides only 20 pre-medical students across the country with direct guidance and resources for medical school application.
Amrin is a longtime tutor of SHSAT, SAT, and college and high school application editing at Kweller Prep. Amrin graduated from Townsend Harris High School in 2020, where she maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout all four years. Amrin also earned a 1520 on the SAT and a 35/36 on the ACT, with a perfect score on the math section for both exams. She also earned a perfect 800 on the SAT Math 2 Subject Test and a perfect 5/5 on the AP Calculus BC exam (she loves math). She was also part of Townsend Harris’ Science Research Program and submitted her work to various competitions, including the New York City Science and Engineering Fair, where she placed as a semifinalist in the Microbiology competition.
Amrin has helped dozens of students achieve high scores on their exams and receive admission to the nation’s top high schools and colleges. Her students have seen great improvement and success after working with her!
