Kweller Prep Tutor Ateeb

Ateeb attends The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art as a Civil Engineering Undergraduate student under a full tuition scholarship. He plans on specializing in structural engineering, with a focus on infrastructure design but also has academic interests in Physics, Economics, and Philosophy. His coursework at Cooper Union has included: Calculus I and II, Physics I and II, Urban Transportation and Planning, Engineering Design, General Chemistry, Computer Science, Differential Equations, Bio-technology, Material Science, Civil Engineering Fundamentals, and Microeconomics.

He graduated from Richmond Hill High School as the Salutatorian of the class of 2020. Upon graduation, Ateeb was awarded: The NYC Council Speaker’s Award, USMC Scholastic Excellence Award, RHHS Award for Communication Arts, RHHS Award for Special Achievement in Mathematics, Chemistry, and Social Studies, and the President’s Award for Educational Excellence. While a senior in high school, he attained the IC3 Digital Literacy Certification, became a Posse Foundation Nominee, and received the Bausch-Lomb Honorary Science Award from the University of Rochester. Ateeb also received a merit scholarship to attend Manhattan college, as well as a full-ride scholarship through the Macaulay Honors Program, but he ultimately decided to pursue his degree at The Cooper Union. Ateeb took a few AP courses while in high school which included: English, Calculus, US, and Global History. Ateeb’s time in high school was mainly spent with the Robotics team where he worked to design, fabricate, and test numerous mechanisms of the robot which was to take place in a seasonal competition.

In his time before college, Ateeb worked as a youth mentor for kids at the New York Hall of Science, where he supervised classes and created lesson plans to teach about different fields of science. Ateeb also worked as a social media marketer for a Movie Festival Company, using his skills in advertising and communication to promote movie screenings and develop the public image of the company. In his first semester as an engineering student, Ateeb worked to produce portable shelters for refugees in Sub-saharan Africa. This was a design project proposed to the United Nations to address problems faced by refugees worldwide, where Ateeb was responsible for design validation and life cycle/environmental analysis. Ateeb has also part-taken in Cooper Union’s FSAE Motorsports team where he is working on designing the structural frame for a Formula 1 type car. Additionally, Ateeb actively participates in engineering competitions centered around solving key social and environmental issues. Recently, he designed a mechanism to help wheelchair users attach umbrellas to their wheelchairs, this design won first place in a global competition and Ateeb got invited to makeathons in Paris and Washington. Outside of school, Ateeb is a tech enthusiast, loves writing poetry, and spends time gaming with his friends.
