Kweller Prep Tutor Daniel

DANIEL is a student at Columbia University, majoring in business and music. He attended the Dalton School, here he has held multiple leadership positions. As a peer leader during his senior year, Daniel mentored freshman students and created lesson plans to provide support for their transition to high school. He was the Chair of the Men of Color Club at Dalton, where he organized events and created weekly presentations about social justice. While at Dalton, Daniel explored a wide range of courses, excelling in classes such as Literary Studies in Shaping the Self and Macroeconomics: Chasing Growth. Daniel’s SAT score placed him on top at the 93rd percentile nationally out of the 1.7 million test takers for the SAT exam. Furthermore, Daniel ranked at the 90th percentile on the ISEE Exam which he took in the eighth grade. At Columbia, Daniel’s coursework include Literature Humanities, Frontiers of Science, Calculus, and Spanish. Daniel was team captain of Dalton’s indoor and outdoor track and cross country teams and won the Senior Athlete Award in 2021. In addition to his extensive high school extracurricular activities, Daniel is an classically-trained violist, with a focus on performance and community outreach. A graduate of the Juilliard Pre-College, Daniel has participated in some of the most prestigious music programs including the Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America. In his senior year, Daniel won the Juilliard Pre-College Music Theory and Ear Training Commencement Award. At Columbia University, Daniel is co-principal of the University Orchestra, and a recipient of the Dolan Prize, a selective award that provides free lessons with a teacher of choice. He is also an Ambassador at the Music Ally Program, in which he tutors middle school students in performance, music theory, and ear training. Outside of Kweller Prep, Daniel enjoys running, composing, and traveling.
