Kweller Prep Tutor Eli

ELI is a first-year student at Johns Hopkins University studying mechanical engineering. Eli was a Kweller Prep student who prepared for the Hunter Exam and is now looking forward to providing students with the same experience he received from Kweller.

As a mentor in the Peer Leadership Program at Hunter College High School, Eli worked with classes of first-year Hunter students, teaching lessons about managing stress and improving study habits. Eli was the captain of the Varsity Basketball and Varsity Baseball teams at Hunter, and he contributed to the baseball team’s 2023 city championship. Eli was also Co-President of Hunter Action Against Hunger, a philanthropic club that raises money and runs clothing drives, ultimately partnering with the nonprofit organization Midnight Run to distribute their supplies to the unhoused population of New York City.

In the classroom, Eli was in Extended Honors Math, an advanced math program, from grades eight through eleven. During his Junior year, Eli took AP Chemistry (5), and as a Senior, he took AP Calculus BC, AP Physics Mechanics C, AP Macroeconomics, AP Microeconomics, and AP Computer Science A. Eli received a composite SAT score of 1580 (800/800 on the Math section, 780/800 on the English section), and he is a 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program Finalist.

In high school, Eli authored a biomechanics research article, available on the Social Science Research Network (SSRN). Eli has submitted it to the STEM Fellowship Journal, where it is being professionally reviewed for publication. He has also received four Silver Key Awards and three Honorable Mentions for submissions to the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, in the categories of Critical Essay, Film and Animation, and Poetry.

Eli is also Main Host of the podcast Bridging the Carbon Gap, a climate-action podcast focused on improving climate education in New York City high schools. The podcast is in partnership with The Institute for Sustainable Cities at Hunter College, City University of New York. As a host, he interviews prominent scientists, researchers, and policy experts from around the world.

Eli is excited to share the tips and tricks that he once learned as a Kweller student. When not at Kweller Prep, Eli enjoys reading, playing sports with friends, tinkering with gadgets and learning the mechanical makeup of the gadget.
