Farwa is an undergraduate student at Stanford University on a full-ride scholarship. She matched with Stanford through the QuestBridge National College Match, where she plans on majoring in mathematics, minoring in economics, and pursuing a coterminal Master’s in mathematics. She plans to attend business school and pursue a career in quantitative finance, investment banking, or consulting. Farwa has completed coursework at Stanford relevant to her future career in economic principles, statistical methods, applied econometrics, programming in R and STATA, linear algebra, and multivariable calculus. Since arriving at Stanford, discussions with professors about their work in and around financial mathematics and economics have made quantitative economic research a point of immense intellectual intrigue for her, leading to a research opportunity with Economist Mark Duggan in educational economic research.
Farwa graduated from Townsend Harris High School, where she maintained a 4.0 GPA, received the gold medal for excellence in mathematics and physics, and received the Plaque for excellence in Spanish Literature. She scored 1590 on the SAT with an 800 in Mathematics and 790 in Reading and Writing. She has taken 13 APs and scored 5 on 12 of the 13, including AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Physics 1, AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism, AP Physics C: Mechanics, AP Spanish Literature and Culture, AP Macroeconomics, AP Microeconomics, and AP English Language and Composition.
Farwa is a Milken Scholar, a QuestBridge Scholar, a Coca-Cola Finalist, a member of the NY State Science Honor Society, a member of the Mu Alpha Theta National Honor Society, a recipient of the New York City Council Peter Koo Recognition Award, a National Latin Exam Summa Cum Laude, and a member of the ARISTA National Honor Society and ARCHON National Service Honor Society.
Farwa has a deep dedication to tutoring, as she believes that education and learning are the only way to bring positive change to our lives and the world. She established the Uplift Club in her high school, where she and other members tutored middle school students in English and Regents math, paying particular attention to Spanish-speaking and Hindi-speaking students. She also launched the peer tutoring program at her high school, encouraging students in all grades to reach out for help when necessary and to help others whenever possible, and she taught SAT math as part of the program. Farwa also launched the High School Support Initiative (HSSI) at Townsend Harris, where she helps college-applying seniors with their applications — from personal essays to short response essays to activities to overall structure. She also helps students with scholarship applications and interviews. Currently, Farwa is a tutor at EPATT Tutoring, where she helps middle school students from low-income immigrant families in an effort to uplift their futures.
