Kweller Prep Tutor Farwa

Farwa currently attends Stanford University on a full-tuition scholarship. Farwa matched with Stanford University through the QuestBridge National College Match, where she plans on majoring in Mathematics, minoring in Economics, and pursuing a coterminal Master’s in Mathematics. Farwa plans on attending business school and pursuing a career in quantitative finance, investment banking, or consulting. Farwa has completed relevant coursework at Stanford University for her future career in economic principles, statistical methods, applied econometrics, programming in R and STATA, linear algebra, and multivariable calculus. Since arriving at Stanford University, discussions with professors about their work in and around financial mathematics and economics have rendered quantitative economic research immense points of intellectual intrigue for her, resulting in the research opportunity with Economist Mark Duggan in educational, economic research.

Farwa graduated from Townsend Harris High School, where she maintained a 4.0 GPA, received the gold medal in mathematics and physics, and received the Plaque for excellence in Spanish Literature. Farwa scored 1590 on the SAT with an 800 in Mathematics and 790 in Reading and Writing. Farwa took 13 APs and scored a five on 12 of the 13 APs, including AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Physics 1, AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism, AP Physics C: Mechanics, AP Spanish Literature and Culture, AP Macroeconomics, AP Microeconomics, and AP English Language and Composition.

Farwa is a Milken Scholar, a QuestBridge Scholar, a Coca-Cola Finalist, a member of the NY State Science Honor Society, a member of the Mu Alpha Theta National Honor Society, a recipient of the New York City Council Peter Koo Recognition Award, a National Latin Exam Summa Cum Laude, and a member of the ARISTA National Honor Society and ARCHON National Service Honor Society.

Farwa has been deeply dedicated to tutoring as she believes that education and learning is the only way to bring positive change in our lives and the world. Farwa established the Uplift Club in her High School, where she and club members tutored 8th graders in English and Regents math, especially paying attention to Spanish-speaking and Hindi-speaking students. She also launched the peer tutoring program in her High School as a sophomore, where she encouraged students in all grades to reach out for help when necessary and to help others whenever possible. She also particularly taught SAT math as part of the peer tutoring program during her senior year. Farwa also launched the High School Support Initiative (HSSI) at Townsend Harris, where she now helps college-applying seniors with their college applications, from personal essays to short response essays to activities to the overall structure. Farwa also helps students with scholarship applications as well as interviews for scholarships. When not at Kweller Prep, Farwa enjoys hiking, dancing, and traveling.
