Kweller Prep Tutor Ivy

Ivy is currently a student at New York University’s College of Arts and Sciences. She was selected for the NYU Presidential Scholars Program, a research honors program only offered to the top 10% of NYU admits. Ivy currently has a 4.0/4.0 GPA and is a pre-dental student aiming for Columbia Dental School. She is majoring in Biochemistry at NYU and has taken courses including General Chemistry 1 and 2, Calculus 1 and 2, Introduction to Psychology, and two Literature and Writing classes. This semester, she will take Organic Chemistry, Biology, and Advanced Nutrition. Ivy is currently involved with campus extracurriculars such as the NYU Pre-Dental Society and the NYU CAS Student Council.

Ivy graduated from Stuyvesant High School with an advanced regents diploma and a GPA of 95.93, meaning she is in the top 5% of Stuyvesant students. At Stuyvesant, she took part in the Big Sib Program, Stuyvesant Student Union, and Stuyvesant Neuroscience Club. Ivy was also the research assistant for Psychologist Dr. Robin Stern, who is the founder of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. Ivy received 1590/1600 on her SAT, with an 800/800 in the math section and a 790 in English. Ivy also received a 770/800 on her Biology SAT II. Ivy achieved the maximum score of 5 in her AP World History, AP US History, AP Chemistry, AP Biology tests and a score of 4 in AP Literature and Composition, making her an AP Scholar with Distinction. Ivy credits her education at Stuyvesant for allowing her to excel at NYU, imbuing her with the work ethic and strategies needed to succeed in difficult courses.

Ivy has many years of experience preparing middle and high school students for the SHSAT and the SATs. Having gone to tutoring centers all her life for state tests, the SHSAT, and the SAT, she is able to empathize with students’ struggles, allowing her to be more effective as a teacher. Ivy is excited to watch students surpass their goals and brings nothing but her best to Kweller Prep’s students. Ivy is fluent in Mandarin and understands elementary Spanish. Apart from academics, she enjoys cooking, reading, going to the gym, and watching science documentaries. She can play both violin and piano and is starting to learn guitar as well.
