Outside of school, Katherine tutored low-income foster children with Down 7 Up 8, as well as other children in need of academic assistance with Learn To Be. During the pandemic, she volunteered with Invisible Hands working to deliver groceries and other necessary supplies to immunocompromised individuals where she received the Spotlight Volunteer distinction, an award for her exemplary service and hard work.
