MANDY

Mandy currently attends the University at Buffalo where she is a Presidential Scholar, which is the most prestigious award incoming students can earn. Mandy is majoring in Biomedical Engineering, which explores the intersection between engineering and the human body and includes courses in Calculus, Biology, and Physics.

Mandy is a graduate of Hunter College High School, one of the best high schools in New York City. At Hunter College High School, Mandy took multiple AP courses, including AP Chemistry, AP Biology, and AP Statistics and scored a 5 on all of her exams. Mandy also scored strongly in other standardized testing, scoring a 1510 on the SAT. Mandy was also involved within her high school, acting as a Vice President of the Girls Who Code chapter, and working as an editor to multiple school run publications that discussed topics such as upcoming technology advancements, applications of computer science in the world, and climate news. Mandy also served as a Big Sibling to incoming seventh and eighth graders. Mandy also participates in advanced research outside of school, including working as an assistant in a biology lab at Queens College.

Mandy enjoys working with kids, and spent her previous two summers working as a camp counselor at a New York Edge camp, a city run program for elementary school age children to engage in visual arts, performing arts and numerous sports. As a counselor at this camp, Mandy supervised group activities and acted as a support for the children in various academic and personal issues. In her free time, Mandy likes exploring New York City by traveling to different neighborhoods and taking long walks.
