Kweller Prep Tutor Mateo

Mateo currently attends Columbia University, where he is pursuing majors in Math and Chemistry. Before attending Columbia University, he attended Hunter College High School with dual enrollment in Hunter College, where he maintained a GPA above 4.0. In addition, Mateo is classically trained as a pianist, having attended Interlochen Arts Camp on a scholarship and played with their orchestra.

In high school, Mateo received a perfect 1600 on the SAT and a perfect 1520 on his PSAT. Mateo is a National Merit Scholar finalist. Since eighth grade, he has taken Extended Honors Math, an accelerated and enriched math class at Hunter. During his Junior and Senior years, Mateo took the AMC12 (a national math competition) and qualified for AIME. Mateo attended a program at MIT Primes, participating in math research for two weeks in Cambridge, MA. Some of Mateo’s other courses include AP Chemistry (5), AP Chinese (5), AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Microeconomics, and AP Macroeconomics.

Mateo’s tutoring experience prior to Kweller includes volunteer work as a Mandarin peer tutor to a 7th grader at Hunter, who received an A in the class with Mateo’s help. He has also volunteered as a counselor at a piano summer camp and worked as a research intern at an investment bank. Mateo is extremely familiar with the nuances of the SAT, PSAT, and Hunter tests. He is eager to help Kweller Prep students achieve their full potential on these exams as well. Outside of school, Mateo enjoys listening to music and playing video games.
