MICHAEL is a graduate of Queens High School for the Sciences at York College, one of New York City’s most highly selective specialized high schools. He currently has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked second out of his graduating class. Michael is a rising freshman at Brown University on a pre-med track, studying biochemistry and psychology. His involvement in extracurricular activities outside of his coursework stems from being able to direct individual projects, conduct research for overseas populations, shadow physicians, and volunteer for national park service and clubs such as American Red Cross. He is the director of his own non-profit organization that provides free SHSAT tutoring to low-income students across the five boroughs in New York City, the co-founder of his school’s robotics team, vice-chair of his high school’s medical club, and a private one-on-one tutor. He is currently working on public health research regarding malnutrition for vulnerable populations in Bauchi, Nigeria, and his past projects involve researching mitigation efforts for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Michael excelled in all of his coursework in high school, while scoring as a part of the 99% percentile on his SAT (1510) and ACT (35). He has taken over 10 of the most challenging AP courses at his high school and has scored a 5 on the majority of them. Michael sat for AP classes such as AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP English and Composition, AP Macroeconomics, AP US History, AP World History, AP Computer Science, AP Calculus BC, AP Physics C: Mechanics, and AP Chinese and Culture. Michael’s interest in academics stems from his unparalleled work ethic, ability to solve problems efficiently, collaborative and independent nature, as well as a fascination with understanding how things work, especially at the microscopic level.

Having been tutored and working as a tutor for the majority of his educational experience, Michael deeply understands the nuances and perspectives of learning by assessing his students from all angles. Michael’s ability to empathize and work with students both individually and in groups proves his ability to excel in all sorts of teaching. In the future, Michael wishes to become a pediatric hematologist, combining his love for children and his interest in medicine, liquid tumors, and immunology. In his free time, Michael enjoys cooking new recipes, playing basketball, reading, and playing Fortnite.
