MIGUEL

MIGUEL currently attends Northwestern University and is majoring in Journalism at the Medill School of Journalism, one of the top journalism colleges in the United States. This year, Miguel will be taking classes like Journalism in Practice, Media Law and Ethics, and Fundamentals of Reporting and Writing News, among others. Miguel graduated from Hunter College High School in New York City, widely regarded as one of the best high schools in the country, with a 4.0 GPA. At Hunter, Miguel took a multitude of AP classes, including AP Spanish, AP Government and Politics, and AP AB Calculus. He similarly had impressive test scores, scoring a 1510 on the SAT. Miguel was a part of multiple leadership roles within Hunter College High School, as president of Hunter’s Hispanic cultural club, a co-editor of two school newspapers—What’s What and The Clean Sheet—and a captain for both the basketball and baseball team. Outside of school, Miguel is heavily involved in extracurriculars. Among them include writing for Latino Sports, a newspaper focused on Latino athletes, co-hosting The Top Three Podcast on Spotify, and multiple jobs working with younger children. Miguel has worked with Kids of Summer, a summer camp focused on helping kids aged 5-13 improve their skills, and one-on-one tutoring in English and math for K-2nd graders as part of the Relume Tutoring Program. When not at Kweller Prep, Miguel enjoys reading History books, watching and playing all kinds of sports, and drawing.
