RIYA

Kweller Prep Tutor Riya

RIYA is currently enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. She is currently studying for her bachelor’s degree in computer science. On campus, Riya enjoys teaching computer science and coding principles to students at several middle and high schools across Philadelphia. She is also a part of Advancing Women in Engineering, an organization that supports women in engineering. Riya has a strong background in computer science. She attended Columbia University coding Bootcamp in her junior year of high school. In addition, she taught coding as an honorary facilitator to young girls from 2nd to 12th grade at Girls Who Code.

Riya has a lot of experience tutoring for the SAT and other core curriculum subjects, including math, science and English. Riya attended Staten Island Technical High School from 9th to 12th grade. In fact, she was a student at Kweller Prep and prepared for the SHSAT!

Riya has also participated in cancer research projects at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in the Department of Radiology. After winning the first place award in the Radiology: Giving Back to New York City Competition, she went on to work with scientists and researchers to analyze cancer data and synthesize it using R. She also learned from data scientists at Sloan Kettering about new innovations for medicine in the data science field including advancements in machine and deep learning. She also served as a peer leader at the Staten Island University Hospital. Riya designed service projects to aid the community and presented them to schools and organizations across New York City.

Riya has become extremely accustomed to the style and structure of many New York City competitive examinations, including the SAT, the SHSAT, the PSAT, and the Advanced Placement tests. Riya is a kind, likable individual who enjoys working with people, especially children. In her free time, Riya loves to play volleyball and explore New York City and Philadelphia.
