SALDON

Kweller Prep Tutor Saldon

Saldon currently attends Cornell University and is majoring in Global Development. She graduated from Bronx High School of Science. Saldon was an AP Scholar with Distinction following her success in her rigorous coursework, which included AP Biology, AP European History, AP Physics, AP LANG, AP US History, and AP Computer Science. She is currently taking AP Calculus AB, AP Literature, AP Comparative Government, AP Environmental Science, and AP French. Saldon scored 1450 on her SAT (730 English, 720 Math).

Beyond her grades, Saldon involves herself in all types of extracurriculars. At Bronx Science, Saldon was a vital part of her Student Government as the Chair of her school’s Judicial Board and the Vice President of the National Honor Society. She often made slideshow presentations for underclassmen as part of her responsibilities as a Big Sib. Saldon is also the president of Bronx Science’s Asian American Association and Podcast Club and Program Manager of her School’s theater program, S!NG. When not leading a club meeting, she was a Varsity delegate at her weekly Model UN practices.

As part of her school’s research program, Saldon worked on a year-long project exploring the impact of race on compensation, working with social scientists like Dr.Wendy Troxel and Anna Haas. Through her school’s Journalism class, Saldon is also a featured editor for her School Newspaper, ‘The Science Survey.’ Outside of school, Saldon spent a summer as a volunteer teacher at the Tibetan Children’s Village, a school for Tibetan orphans and refugees in India. Saldon taught grades 1-6 in core subjects (English, Math, Science, and Social Studies). Determined to keep her Tibetan culture alive in younger generations of the Tibetan community, she has produced a radio story about Tibet as an intern at WNYC Radio station. Following her broadcast, she was interviewed live on the Brian Lehrer show and offered a position on the program’s Advisory Board.

Saldon has interned at multiple volunteer organizations, such as DOROT, an organization focused on helping older citizens of New York City. Saldon has completed over 200 hours as a Discovery Guide Intern at the Bronx Zoo, teaching kids about global conservation efforts. Leaving in good standing, she was also a part of the Girls Who Code Summer Immersion program, completing the summer project of creating her own website. In her free time, she loves baking, traveling, and watching her favorite anime, “Attack on Titan.” As someone who enjoys the art of mentorship, Saldon can’t wait to be a part of the Kweller community.
