Sathirtha is currently an undergraduate student attending Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College. Sathirtha intends to double major in Biology and Business. Some of the notable coursework that Sathirtha is taking in the upcoming semester include Asian American Studies, Principles of Biology, and Molecular Biology and Genetics.
Sathirtha graduated from Stuyvesant High School as an AP Scholar with Distinction and National Merit Scholarship winner. Sathirtha achieved a 1540 SAT score, putting him in the 99th percentile of all test takers for the exam. At Stuyvesant, Sathirtha took several rigorous courses, such as AP Biology, AP Calculus BC, AP Chemistry, AP Psychology, AP Literature and Composition, AP Comparative Government and Politics, AP World History, and AP US History.
Outside of coursework, Sathirtha was a Science editor and lead sports reporter for the Stuyvesant Spectator. In his time with the newspaper, Sathirtha wrote many articles and provocative Stuyvesant-centric editorials, led a magazine project, held weekly writing workshops for all Spectator writers, and managed biweekly meetings with a group of 40 students. Sathirtha served as the Queens Director for a non-profit organization called Food for All NYC, where he forged partnerships with various community fridges, food pantries, grocery stores, and similar organizations and coordinated weekly deliveries amounting to over 4700 pounds of donated food. Sathirtha led the Biology and History divisions of a stealth education startup and volunteered over 400 hours as a Biology, Math, and English tutor. Sathirtha also served as the business manager of the school yearbook, The Indicator, and was a managing board member of the Board of Elections. Sathirtha has won various awards, including the President’s Volunteer Service Award-Gold and the NYS Scholarship for Academic Excellence.
In his free time, he likes to watch and play football, basketball, and badminton, binge-watch sitcoms, and explore the city with friends.
