TAMIR

Tamir is a Resident Physician at Northwell Health. He graduated from the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell in 2023. As a medical student, Tamir was a researcher at Northwell Health in the Department of Vascular Surgery and the Department of Hematology/Medical Oncology, one of the most extensive cancer treatment programs in the New York metropolitan area. Tamir also served as a cancer Research Associate at Mount Sinai Medical Health System. Tamir is a licensed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), certified through Northwell Health. Tamir is dedicated to a career in biomedical science, learning, and providing compassionate patient care. He published three scientific research papers while in medical school. He completed his last board exam as a 4th-year medical student and was matched into an Anesthesiology Residency. Only 26 Anesthesiology residents are accepted each year into this highly competitive program. Tamir’s residency unit performs 100,000 anesthetic procedures annually in all aspects of surgical, procedural and diagnostic care. Tamir is currently doing rotations in internal medicine, surgery, the cardiac/coronary critical care unit, the surgical intensive care unit, anesthesiology, acute pain management, point-of-care ultrasound and echocardiography, otolaryngology, and emergency medicine.

Tamir graduated from Macaulay Honors College at Hunter, where he attended for four years before medical school. Tamir’s education was fully funded on a 100% scholarship as part of the Macaulay Honors College. While in college, Tamir was both on a pre-medical track and a math major. He took college-level courses, including multivariable calculus and organic chemistry. Throughout high school, Tamir conducted medical research, volunteered at Mt. Sinai Hospital, and shadowed physicians. He also tutored SAT, Regents, and Advanced Placement Classes at Kweller Prep on weekends, summer and winter breaks throughout college. Tamir Graduated from Macaulay College in 2019 as Salutatorian, summa cum laude. He then received a merit-based scholarship to Medical School.

Tamir graduated from Forest Hills High School (FHHS). While a high school student, Tamir was part of the Carl Sagan STEM Honors Academy, a comprehensive science and math medical science program for students interested in pursuing careers related to science, technology, engineering, and math. Tamir took STEM fundamentals, Research, Applied Sciences, Health Professions, and Engineering/Computer Programming. Tamir courses took a total of 6 Advanced Placement (AP) courses and scored 1500/1600 on his SAT. He also scored 800/800 on the physics, math 1, and biology SAT subject tests. Tamir graduated from Forest Hills High School in 2015 in the top 1% of his class. He was awarded for being one of the top 10 students in his grade from over 1,000 students.

Tamir started his journey at Kweller Prep as an SAT student in the 11th grade at Forest Hills High School. Immigrating from Israel, Tamir learned English as his second language. Tamir studied intensely for his SAT and ultimately raised his score by several hundred points to 1500/1600. Soon after acing his SAT, Tamir became an SAT tutor at Kweller Prep. Tamir taught students in person at Kweller Prep in Queens and Manhattan for the next eight (8) years. Throughout the pandemic, Tamir ran Zoom Online webinars at Kweller Prep, explaining his journey from high school to medical school. We are honored to share that Tamir regularly still runs webinars helping students navigate the application program to Macaulay Honors College. Although he is now a busy resident physician, He still makes time to share his knowledge, tutor, and pass the torch.
